I am Kelley Kramer, a licensed counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I've been in private practice since 2020, and I graduated with a Master's in Counseling in 1999. I know sometimes stress, anxiety, relationships, and life changes can get in the way of positive mental health. Depression and worry can oftentimes rob us of our potential. Past trauma can sometimes intrude on our current life, and freeze us in our tracks.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I usually introduce myself and then discuss clients' specific challenges. We'll collaborate on a plan for therapy, based on the cleint's personal treatment goal. I'll discuss specific options for treatment and what clients can expect.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 20 years' of experience in the field, and have worked closely with clients who have a multitude of challenges. I've gained knowledge in numerous therapy modalities and approaches to help clients. I'm a lifetime learner, so am always adding to my knowledge base.

Through the application of evidence-based CBT techniques, I facilitate a collaborative therapeutic journey, tailored to each client's unique needs and goals. My aim is to empower clients with practical tools and coping strategies, equipping them to navigate life's challenges with resilience and self-awareness.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can be helpful to manage intense emotions and navigate distressing situations. It helps clients to learn how to communicate and have healthy interpersonal relationships. DBT, rooted in the dialectical philosophy that balances opposing forces, fosters a nonjudgmental and validating therapeutic environment, making it particularly effective for individuals dealing with emotion dysregulation issues. Clients not only gain practical skills for managing challenges but also cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness and acceptance. Guided by the principles of DBT, my aim is to empower individuals to build resilience, forge healthier relationships, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.
