I provide counseling services for clients seeking professional therapy while recognizing that God has an important role in personal healing. I want it to be evident to my clients that I am a Christian therapist who understands the power and grace God desires for his children. My goal is to help my clients discover the secrets of scripture written plainly for our instruction. When answers are lifted off the pages of God's love letter, it is energizingly freeing! The Bible is enough. Although I have been trained at a Master's Level by a University program and pursued a clinical license through Illinois and Missouri, I have learned that the Bible is the ultimate source for counseling through the most challenging times. Allow me to assist you in discovering God's instruction on how to positively restructure patterns of cognitive distortions and encourage behavior change so that you can experience peace of mind and joy. I specialize in working with those who struggle with anxiety, panic, addictions, OCD, sadness & depression and those looking to find purpose in life. As a solution-focused therapist, I am goal-oriented and vow not to misuse my time to reach set goals. I provide Online / Virtual Christian Counseling for Illinois and Missouri Residences. “The Word of God is sufficiently useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” ~ 2 Tim. 3:16.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During this first session, I will ask questions to understand what situations have instigated and/or led you to see therapy. Our therapeutic relationship will examine the different avenues you may need to explore or change to ease your life's pain, fear, or indecision. Therapy with me will be more than talking things out. As the client, you play an essential part in the healing process. To do this, expect to be given homework after each session that will likely include reading passages from God’s Word. Treatment goals will be created based on learning, understanding, and practicing the ‘put-off’ and ‘put-on’ principles in scripture.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have twenty-five years of experience working with various age groups and have faced many life challenges. I have experience working with adult and adolescent inpatient and outpatient addiction therapy. I have experience working with various outpatient mental health challenges such as Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Depression, Compulsive disorders such as OCD, and searching for a purpose-driven life. I have experience working with high school students as a mental health counselor within a faith-based setting.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I provide counseling services for clients who are seeking a professional therapist who recognizes God's role in the healing process. I want it to be evident to my clients that I am a Christian. My goal is to help my clients discover the secrets of scripture written plainly for our instruction. When answers are lifted off the pages of God's love letter, it is energizingly freeing! The Bible is enough. Although I have been trained at a Master's Level by a University program and pursued a clinical license through the states of Illinois and Missouri, I have learned that the Bible is the ultimate source for counseling through the toughest of times. Allow me to assist you in discovering God's instruction on how to positively restructure patterns of cognitive distortions and encourage behavior change so that you can experience peace of mind and joy. “The Word of God is sufficiently useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” ~ 2 Tim. 3:16.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

While the Bible doesn't use the specific terminology of CBT, its principles mimic the instructions God consistently provides us as a way to work through trials and circumstances. Throughout the teachings found in the Bible, God has encouraged His followers to identify and change negative thoughts and behaviors. God doesn’t call negative thoughts "cognitive distortions." Nonetheless, He gives instructions that align with identifying these unproductive thoughts so that we can change them to ones that are profitable, constructive, and beneficial so that a person may live out their life free of worry. This is the same instruction that a cognitive behavioral therapist would use to assist their client in adjusting unproductive thoughts to make specific behavioral changes to live a happier and gratifying life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

It is not my goal that my clients become dependent upon me. I am a guide who is always willing to walk alongside you during your times of need. Solution-focused counseling is generally a short-term, goal-focused therapeutic approach that helps clients improve their lives by focusing on solutions rather than problems. Therapy with me will be more than talking things out. Our therapeutic relationship will examine the different avenues you may need to explore or change to ease your life's pain, fear, or indecision. As the client, you play an essential part in the healing process.
