Howdy! My name is Miquelle and I’m a licensed professional counselor in Texas. I have my bachelors degree in psychology from Texas A&M University. I then completed my masters degree at the University of St. Thomas. I have a background working in residential treatment facilities with children, adolescents, young adults and families. I take a person centered approach with my clients and believe that everyone deserves respect and a safe place to explore and grow as individuals. I firmly believe that people must first accept where they are in order to create change. I also incorporate both CBT and DBT skills in my practice with clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients can expect a warm casual approach during their first session. We will get to know each other and work to build a safe place. I will seek to understand you as a whole and take the time to answer questions you may have. Together as a team we will create goals and figure the best path forward to meet them.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As a therapist I use a person centered approach which simply put means, I believe clients are the experts of their own life and my job is to gently guide them to their personal goals. I also use cognitive behavioral therapy which challenges negative thought and behavioral patterns and seeks to replace them. In addition l also use dialectical behavioral therapy in order to help clients understand and accept difficult feelings.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my strength is understanding and compassion for my clients. I will both empower and sometimes challenge you when needed. This journey is a collaborative effort that requires open honest communication without fear of judgment. I will take a holistic approach and together we can see how relationships, physical wellbeing, family, spiritual beliefs, and culture can impact mental health.
