Hello, I'm Tara... I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with an emphasis on trauma studies. I'm a member of AASECT with the goal of becoming an AASECT certified sex therapist in the near future. I love working with clients who are struggling with career and life transitions, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management and relationship concerns. Prior to my work as a therapist, I worked for years in the entertainment industry with various film, TV and music artists. I love to work with creative types and understand the challenges many face working in that industry. I'm also a 500-hour RYT certified yoga and meditation teacher. I like to incorporate somatic and mindfulness exercises into my work with individuals and groups. I also have a background working as a sexual assault advocate and bring a strong passion and skill set for working with individuals with sexual trauma histories. I'm based in Los Angeles. When I'm not working, I can be found with my Chihuahua (Homer), hiking, reading, watching film & TV and working on creative writing projects.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am a collaborative therapist who works with clients in a directive, calm and empathetic manner. I help clients to explore how their symptoms or "problem(s)" are impacting their overall wellness as well as understanding what strengths and resources a client has going into therapy. The goal of therapy is to break down those problematic narratives while helping clients to access or connect with their own internal resilience. I take a bio-psycho-social approach in which I focus on how the mind-body is connected to client's experiences and will offer somatic interventions as part of the therapy. I also work with clients to explore their values and goals and how their behavioral choices can move them closer to a life of meaning and purpose.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I welcome a collaborative process with clients and tend to use a mix of Narrative/Relational / Attachment &EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)/CBT (Cognitive Behavioral)/ ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) & Mindfulness and sex positive approaches to working with clients.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
