Hi there! My name is Erin Dey and I am a licensed clinical social worker located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I have a masters’ degree from Columbia University, and I specialize in helping clients successfully navigate challenging life transitions. I work with individuals of all ages, families, couples, and groups both in person as well as online. My approach to counseling is solutions-focused, strengths-based, and relational.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will take some time to get to know each other and briefly discuss what brought you in. We will likely wrap up the session by identifying preliminary goals for our work together and next steps.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a clinician is my versatility and openness to help you through whatever is going on. I will reserve judgement and will help you identify a tailored treatment plan that works for you and your individual situation.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solutions focused brief therapy or SFBT is a modality that uses desired outcomes/solutions to drive the work between a counselor and a client. While SFBT is not the right fit for everyone, it can be an incredibly powerful tool that both empowers clients and helps them to achieve positive results more quickly than traditional therapeutic models.

Strength-Based

We all have strengths and weaknesses, however, harnessing them in a way that helps us get the most out of life can be tricky. Strengths-based work explores how a client can better understand and utilize their strengths and weaknesses to achieve their goals.

Relational

Relationships are fundamental to an individual's development and functioning in the world. A relational approach to counseling focuses on the impact of a client's relationships on their ability to achieve their goals.
