(parenting issues) teenagers and adult. I am a clinical psychologist with 20 plus years of experience. With adults, therapy addresses specific problem areas to include couples, single parents, parenting, extended family conflicts, divorce, separations and life transitions after the loss of a loved one. Adolescents present with a confluence of issues involving, development, maturation, behavioral and emotions. For example, oppositional defiance, more serious conduct disorders, verbal and physical aggressive tendencies, risk taking behaviors, school problems, confrontations with parent (s), regarding independence, depression, anxiety, unrestricted free access to the internet, distancing behaviors toward adults and family expressing distain and rejecting family values in an attempt to "find themselves". Addiction issues will require a referral to a specialist.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, patient(s) will present their reasons for seeking therapy. After which we will discuss these issues in the context of their lives and reasonable expectations as a result of therapy.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Therapy is a collaborative endeavor and not a series of lectures with a manual outlining step by step instructions of how to solve and manage your presenting problems.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Strengths: 23 years treating adults, adolescents and children. 10 years as a clinical supervisor in Juvenile Hall. 15 years part of a Pediatric Medical group. Completed a Two-year clinical training internship with the Department of Psychiatry, UCSD School of Medicine, San Diego, Ca.
