Hi, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I live in Virginia Beach, Va and am licensed in Virginia, Utah, and Nevada. I received my MSW at The Catholic University of America and have been practicing therapy for 6 years. I feel that therapy is a gift you give yourself. I work solely online as a telehealth therapist. I enjoy meeting you where you are at and helping you get through the rough spots, whether it's finding your voice, identifying the obstacle and need for change, or just understanding from a different perspective. I work mainly with clients who have experience with anxiety, depression, and trauma in their life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will have a brief introduction, then I will gather information about you that will help me understand your purpose for coming to therapy. In this first session we will determine the obstacle in your path and gather a little personal history. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I chose to work in mental health after experiencing the need of understanding mental health within my own family. I am a mother of four grown children and grandmother of six. I've had the opportunity to experience different cultures as I lived in South Korea and traveled throughout the world. I have close ties with the hearing-impaired community, as my husband lost his hearing at age three. I have been able to view life from different perspectives over time which I believe adds insight and understanding to the value of each life!

My treatment methods

Psychoeducation

When working with different mental states or disorders, I prefer to give some insight on the disorder and the most recent studies that help to manage or resolve the issue.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The power of thoughts greatly impacts the emotional and behavioral well-being. It is important to identify thought patterns that are not serving oneself and to create new patterns that heighten self-awareness and empowerment. This has been the main modality I have used in treatment for anxiety and depression.

EMDR

This modality helps to relieve the disturbance of maladaptive memories in the memory network. I have used this modality in telehealth sessions using various forms of bilateral stimulation.
