Thank you for taking the time to consider me and “hello!” Have you ever missed the first 10-20 minutes of a movie or conversation because you are replaying an interaction from earlier in the day? Or obsessing over tomorrow? That’s anxiety hijacking your peace. You are not your anxiety, or your depression, or your grief. These are affecting how you are, but these do not define you. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Virginia with nearly 20 years of experience working with clients suffering with anxiety, many of whom have suffered trauma, loss, and carry grief. I enjoy assisting all ages of adults and have worked with many clients in addressing life changes and transitions, including substance use concerns. I know it can be especially difficult to reach out and ask for help when you are already overwhelmed with a situation. I respect your courage, and I will always strive to provide a safe space for you to talk about whatever concerns are important to you. Some concerns are very private. I respect this and offer a supportive environment which is always free from judgment. I appreciate your time and hope you’ll reach out to me.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know each other. The reality is it will probably take some time for you to feel comfortable with opening up, so take your time. I will ask you some questions about yourself and what brings you to therapy. I will ask if you have specific goals so that I may better understand what you need from me. It is okay if you do not at this time. Maybe you just want to feel better. I understand. We will develop and establish goals along the way, including ways to promote a sense of calm in your life. We can change direction and explore other concerns as well. Often when we begin to discuss what brought us to therapy, we uncover other concerns along the way. I promise you will not be limited to a topic. Discovery is a part of therapy and healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have sat where you are sitting today. I have struggled with anxiety, and I have lost loved ones and will always walk through grief. I feel my greatest strengths as a provider are compassion, authenticity, lived experience, warmth, and humor.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

I’m so glad you’re here! I hope you feel at ease. I have worked extensively with clients experiencing anxiety for many years, and I have a great deal of experience with disenfranchised grief. My goal is for you to reach your goals. I want you to feel safe with me, and my hope is that you will trust me so that we can work together. I firmly believe you are strong and capable. I want to help empower you to draw upon your strengths and realize you have been a superhero all along. I can help you in a warm, genuine, down-to-earth way.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We may challenge how your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviors. We may work on coping skills, if this is something which would be beneficial to you, and we may discuss how to recognize your inner dialogue and your values. Throughout any of our time together, I want you to feel safe and respected.

Strength-Based

What are your strengths? Let’s see! You probably know most of your strengths already, so let’s add to these and fine tune what you work with on a daily basis!
