I will walk with you and help you cope with the visible and invisible load of motherhood.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, you can expect to begin with brief introductions and a review of your intake form. Then we will dive into the challenges you might be facing and discuss what brought you to therapy. If time allows, we will also establish goals for treatment during the first session. If time does not permit, then we will set goals during the next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work with a lot of women dealing with stress and anxiety that life and/or motherhood can bring. Together, we discuss and normalize the guilt and anger and discuss ways to work through each situation. I also work with several individuals going through different types of life transitions such as new parents or parenting, marriage/new relationships, co-parenting, divorce, family separation, college/move away from family. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT operates on the premise that our thoughts about a situation, rather than the situation itself, significantly influence our emotions and actions. In session, I support clients in aiming to identify and modify negative or distorted patterns of thinking and behavior to alleviate emotional distress or mental health issues. I usually like to start where the client is at by understanding their concerns and establishing a collaborative relationship. We then work together to set specific, achievable goals for therapy. From there, I explain the connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviors before identifying the negative pattern in those connections within the clients life. Once we have identified those patterns, then we focus on challenging, restructuring, and engaging in activities to change those negative patterns. Homework is huge part of the process of CBT, so I usually always assign homework as long as the client is willing to try it out.

Faith based therapy

Faith-based therapy integrates spiritual beliefs and practices with traditional therapy techniques. The goal is to address mental health issues while considering the client's faith as a significant aspect of their healing journey. I usually begin by understanding my client's faith and how that connects to their mental health. I will often explore how mental health challenges can be viewed through a spiritual or faith-based perspective. For instance, concepts like forgiveness, resilience, and finding meaning in suffering might be explored through a religious or spiritual framework. I will usually integrate other therapy concepts like CBT to support with faith based therapy. As a Christian therapist, I have biblical knowledge that I can incorporate into the sessions with the client's permission. I do my best to ensure that the use of faith in therapy aligns with the client's comfort level. I understand that not everyone may want religion explicitly woven into their therapy, so respecting client boundaries is crucial for me.
