Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I use the techniques I have learned and developed as a therapist and life experiences to create a compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental environment for clients. I work in depth with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have worked as a Program Director of a Residential Treatment Center treating adult women and men with eating disorders, chemical dependency, and mental health. I also have additional experience working with eating disorders at the partial and outpatient level of care treating adult and adolescent men and women. I am passionate about working with clients who struggle with eating disorders and chemical dependency. In addition, I have experience working with women, men, and adolescents with eating disorders, chemical dependency, trauma, depression, anxiety, and OCD. I have experience working with women and children coming out of shelters affected by intimate partner violence, teens dealing with depression and gender identity issues, and families struggling with past trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a calm and warm demeanor that allows me to build trusting, open, and honest relationships with clients. I like to work collaboratively to instill empowerment, recognize unique needs, and treat the client as a whole person. I like to guide the client in recognizing they are the expert in their own experience.

My treatment methods

Positive Psychology

There are five building blocks that enable flourishing – Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment. I like this method due to being able to help a client find their strengths and ability to function and thrive.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. I use this method due to the effectiveness and being able to see and feel improvement.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. I use this method due to its ability to help clients move forward through difficult emotions so they can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize this method as it focuses on helping clients accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors by utilizing the four pillars - emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal, and mindfulness.

EMDR

I use this form of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy for reducing the power of traumatic memories. I will guide the client through a series of standardized procedures designed to stimulate bilateral brain activity and has is a highly effective trauma technique either by utilizing eye movement or tapping.
