Hello. My name is Sarah and I honor your quest for healing. Perhaps I can join and help guide on this phase of your journey. I am a seasoned licensed independent clinical social worker in the Boston, MA area with over 20 years of experience working with adults of all ages and walks of life. In addition to a degree in Social Work, I also hold a masters degree in Pastoral Ministry and a certificate in Spiritual direction.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be a time of mutual discovery. My hope is, that as you share what brings you to this journey of healing at this point in time of your life, you and I will get a sense if we are a right fit for one another.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Compassion. Clinical expertise. A safe place to land. A deep belief that in the presence of a compassionate witness and skilled clinician you can heal and discover the astonishing light of your own being.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I consider myself “IFS-informed” as I have completed the IFS Level One training, in addition to several workshops and retreats. As such, I have both professional and personal experience with Internal Family System as a model/method/practice to access one's inner wisdom, love, and grace to heal the wounds and beliefs that block us from alignment, freedom and being one's authentic, unique and gifted, Self. It is a powerful path for transformation.

Polyvagal Therapy

It is said that Polyvagal Theory is the science of safety. My therapeutic approach revolves around the principle that safety is the cornerstone of effective treatment. My goal is to create an environment where your body, mind and spirit feel secure and supported enough to explore areas in your life that may have felt too dangerous to face on your own. Polyvagal theory will help us understand and resolve the impact of trauma and family dysfunction you may have experienced. Together we will compassionately examine and even come to appreciate the strategies your nervous system found to keep you safe, but are no longer working effectively, and may even be causing you harm. With compassionate awareness, you will begin to create an internal environment that allows you to access kinder, healthier, and more effective ways of being with yourself and others.

Eclectic

I bring a breadth of experience to private practice and integrate many schools/models of therapy into my work with clients. With over 20 years working in healthcare settings I have utilized many modalities to help people living with chronic and acute illness, substance use disorders, eating disorders, trauma, end of life, and grief and loss. Additionally, I have experience working with people in 12 step recovery as well as with people seeking to integrate spirituality into their healing journeys.
