Thanks for connecting. Allow me to introduce myself. I have worked with a variety of clients dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, trauma, issues of identity, questioning how to relate to loved ones, and working through issues of faith and connection to God. The common thread is connecting the past to the present and helping you make sense of questions and problems that are likely causing you a lot of distress. I want to help you gain clarity and peace, so you can experience more joy and lightness in your life. You may not even be sure what is causing pain and confusion in your life. My role is to help you put the pieces back together, so you can feel more comfortable and confident.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will probably ask a lot of detailed questions in the first session, but as the client, you will still be leading. I like to get a sense of who you are and what you want to work on in treatment during the first few sessions. You will feel heard, understood, and valued from the very beginning. I welcome questions, push back, and even honest feelings about our work together, so that therapy is the best it can be for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work to make each client feel valued from the very beginning. I use a lot of curiosity in my work as a therapist, and I want to help you make sense of what might feel murky and confusing. Ultimately, I have learned to let you and your concerns be the focus of treatment, rather than a specific treatment method. This helps the process feel organic for both of us and develop a strong rapport.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I help you get to the root of the difficulties you express. In our work, I will provide empathic statements summarizing what you have said, ask questions of clarification, and provide interpretive statements that connect and help make personal meaning to your feelings and experiences. We work together to form a narrative of what you have experienced, so you can disagree with what I say, agree, or elaborate.

Christian Counseling

I am a practicing Christian, and so I can help you identify the role of your Christian faith in the difficulties you are expressing. We can work together to understand how your Christian faith might help you experience more lasting healing and transformation.

Couples Counseling

I have worked with several couples at various stages in their relationship. My goal is to help each person understand the other, express their personal thoughts and feelings, and work on communicating these thoughts and feelings to the other in a way that is meaningful. I challenge couples to move beyond prior assumptions of each other. Additionally, I work to gather details on how past family and romantic relationships might be impacting current relational dynamics.

Motivational Interviewing

In this treatment, I work to understand your personal goals and find where you are in the process toward reaching them. I also ask questions and make summary statements to understand what is truly meaningful to you and how to get there. You will find that this treatment feels very safe, validating, and affirming of your personal values.

Polyvagal Therapy

In this treatment, I ask you to be very aware of how your body feels and to analyze your bodily experiences during different and particularly traumatic events during your lifetime. It is challenging, but we will help you gain awareness of what feels safe and unsafe, in order to help you gain increased personal autonomy in your life.
