Do you feel overwhelmed by work, relationships, or life in general? Are you unsure of where to start on your own journey of self-exploration? As if you're the passenger in the car guiding you through life unable to take control or paralyzed with indecision? Taking the step to start therapy is significant and I hope to create a space where you feel safe and encouraged to be brave. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I received my Masters degree from the University of Chicago and have experience working in a variety of outpatient settings and emergency services before my transition to private practice. Given both my professional and lived experience, I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, and relational issues. Additionally, I work with couples experiencing difficulties with conflict management and intimacy issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My approach is holistic, compassionate, and rooted in developing mutual trust. The relationship created between a therapist and client is of the utmost importance when discussing the efficacy of treatment. During our first session, you can expect that I will learn more about you, what is bringing you to therapy, and any past experiences with therapy. This is also an opportunity to ask me questions about my therapeutic style and express your needs. I am open to any feedback throughout our work together, but especially during the first session. Together, we will set expectations and discuss what treatment will look like going forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the mental health field for 10 years in a variety of settings including emergency services, I have learned the importance of providing a calm, patient presence. As a social worker, I believe it is imperative to acknowledge social and environmental factors that impact individuals' daily lives. I often will take a "big picture" lens to validate the harsh realities of what it is to live in this world right now. I ask thoughtful questions and lead with compassion when building relationships with clients.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I guide clients to embrace mindfulness, clarify values, and commit to meaningful actions in their lives. In understanding the difficulties of creating a consistent practice of mindfulness, I am flexible and creative with in strategizing ways to be more present-focused in the day-to-day.

Attachment-based

I help clients explore and understand their relational patterns through identifying and understanding their attachment styles. I address attachment injuries, offer self-regulating skills, and work with you to learn and improve interpersonal skills.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

The best way I've found to describe Internal Family Systems (IFS) is by drawing parallels to the movie Inside Out. I guide individuals to identify internal "parts" contributing to challenges in their lives. IFS empowers individuals to navigate personal growth, emotional healing, and improved well-being.

Polyvagal Therapy

Through education on our nervous system's response to stressors, I incorporate exercises that can foster resilience, build your self-regulating toolbox, and help understand the mind-body connection better. The exercises I utilize with clients are experiential and encourage movement.
