You have always followed the norm to not stand out. You feel safe when you are in the background and blending in. Judgment and criticism have always been a part of your life. You are struggling with feelings of guilt and shame, and it has impeded you from living a life of authenticity- who you are at your core, but the fear of people leaving stops you. This fear has caused you to have your boundaries tested and crossed- leading you to bottle up your emotions for self-preservation. There has not been a time where you have not felt fear, anxiety, overwhelmed, and stressed. You are exhausted and want to begin to live your life for yourself. You want to honor the different identities that make you an individual. You are tired of this battle within telling you to ease everyone else’s pain over your own. You do not want to hide anymore and are ready to make choices for yourself without second-guessing. I’m Ligia, a BIPOC & LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. Specializing in BIPOC adults who struggle with identity formation & navigating feelings around guilt and shame. My role is walking with you through this process; not ahead or behind. To help you live a life as who you want to be and not told to be. Building your self-confidence, self-compassion, and self-awareness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We work together exploring these conflicts in therapy, we will identify the common thread and make connections from your childhood to adulthood, We will build your self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-confidence. By honoring and valuing each part of you, you will be able to make more authentic and affirming choices.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

We begin your healing journey by getting to know your story to identify and tailor treatment and the tools to fit your specific needs. I work primarily with a strength-based and culturally sensitive lens. In addition, I incorporate some skills from narrative and cognitive behavior therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have created an inclusive private practice for first-generation BIPOC adults who struggle to feel safe as they are seen and have never been taught how to navigate their internal emotional world. Those who are facing inner conflicts and feelings that they do not understand. Faced with indecisiveness daily; not knowing what you want because of not being attuned to who you are. Finding a balance for yourself in different facets of your life, and moving past feelings of guilt and shame towards a person who can feel peace and confidence.
