I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Houston, TX with over 20 years of experience. My career extensively covers multiple settings: from inpatient psychiatric hospitals, grant-funded research, and non-profit organizations, to working in managed care. I work mainly with adults (18+) who present with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship challenges. We each have our own story - our very own blueprint by which we have learned to function and respond in certain ways. There comes a time, however, when that approach no longer benefits us and becomes unhealthy. That now brings you here, at this very moment, and I hope to be a part of your healing and recovery.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will consist of me asking you LOTS of questions to get to know you, how you function and how you are affected by your environment. I will also go wayyyy back to learn more about your family of origin. We will also delve into more sensitive topics, such as current or history of substance use, self-harm and trauma. I would also like us to be able to identify specific treatment goals to which we can work towards.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have come to recognize that empathy, humor, and starting where YOU are can go a long way.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with clients who not only recognize current challenges, but also are willing to roll their proverbial sleeves up to figure out how they got there, and what can they do to make it better. It's important to be intentional with the time between sessions to work on journaling, reading and self-introspection. Understand that therapy work can get uncomfortable, but absolutely necessary to transform and become a healthier version of themselves.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

In my 20+ years of experience, I have learned the value of approaching treatment with a client's unique needs in mind. Instead of rigid adherence to a singular theoretical model, an integrative approach allows for intentional and individualized treatment plans that are more effective and impactful. My technique draws from a range of theoretical approaches, such as cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, psychodynamic, and person-centered therapies.
