I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in Pennsylvania. I have experience working in the field of mental health and behavioral health since 2003. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, addiction issues, and other mental health/behavioral health issues. I also helped people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I consider myself an eclectic psychotherapist. I believe that no one individual is the same as another, therefore treatment should be personalized. Based on where the individual is at and their goals for life and goals for therapy will determine what technique I will use. Techniques may change from session to session. Some techniques I use include, but not limited to, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons and seek therapy at different stages in their lives. My therapeutic approach begins with meeting the individual where he/she is currently. Each person and their situation are unique which is why I am a strong believer that person centered is the best approach as therapy is not one size fits all. I value developing a therapeutic relationship with each individual that I provide services. My goal is to allow the individual to feel comfortable in each session as a result of me offering respect and empathy, being able to accept, and being genuine and authentic. In return I ask that each person is committed to the process and honest throughout. Taking the steps to seek therapy is the first step to seeking change. If you’re ready to take that step, I am here to guide and support you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session with me, my plan is to help you understand what to expect in the therapeutic process. I will listen to your concerns, wants and needs. We will develop a plan for moving forward. My goal is to offer a space where you feel comfortable enough to share, be open to my guidance, and want to return for future sessions. Although I am here to offer the guidance, I will remind you of the work that you have to put in, holding you accountable. I will always keep it real and tell you what you need to hear; always in a respectful manner. As we continue working together it is expected for goals to be developed & obtained. As needed, goals may be revised. Progress, no matter how big or small, will be acknowledged as that fosters the abilitiy to move forward in a positive manner.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use a variey of treatment methods based on your specific needs. Some of those methods include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy. I may give homework assignments to have the work continue outside of sessions. Homework may be in the form of a worksheet, a writing assignment, reading some information, thinking of a question, watching a video, or taking some action in your day to day life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is active listening. I take the time to listen to you so I am able to be genuine in offering guidance specific to your needs. I do not just see this work as a job, I genuinely care for each person who comes across my path and it is always my goal to help you develop your goals, help you reach your own goals, and support you in the process.
