What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will discuss therapy in general, get to know each other, talk about what's going on that made you want to try therapy, establish goals, create a plan of action (homework), and schedule a follow up session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I'm solution focused, goal oriented, supportive, and realistic. I have a very diverse personal and professional background which helps me quickly find common ground with most clients.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Using solution focused therapy, we will focus on the future and create a roadmap to break large ambitions into actionable steps. Then we will create a plan to get there. This approach is really helpful for achieving goals and making big changes feel less stressful and more realistic. Solution focused therapy is most useful for clients who have a specific goal in mind and are ready to work on it.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients change problematic behaviors and/or build new habits. We will focus on how emotions and thoughts are related to behavior, and then identify better alternatives to practice. This type of therapy is most useful for clients who like thinking through logical processes and are motivated to make healthier choices.

Supportive

Clients feel like we are a team working on problems together. This supportive approach in therapy focuses on the client's strengths and encourages what they are already doing well.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing helps clients better understand and clarify their motivations for a behavior or decision. We will focus on the reasons to do something, the reasons not to do something, and how those reasons may have changed over time. This type of therapy is most useful for clients who are struggling to make changes in life, especially related to substance use.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology helps clients improve their mood and change negative thought patterns. We focus on what's going well, the good possibilities for the future, and gratitude. This type of therapy is most useful for clients who have a bias towards negative thinking and want to think more positively.
