I am an LPC and received my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University and a B.A. in Gerontology from the University of South Florida. I have been working in the Mental Health & Substance Abuse field since 2014, where I have experience in case management work, inpatient and outpatient services, a methadone clinic, residential rehabilitation for substance use, and community service agencies that assist with mental health and substance use. I am proudly fluent in English and intermediate in Spanish. I am licensed in Georgia and Maryland and hold a Certified Master Addiction Counselor certificate from the state of Georgia. On my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, playing with my dogs, going to fairs, crafting, and painting.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I want to work on building a trusting relationship that leads to the empowerment and growth of my clients. I want to work on normalizing mental health and substance abuse treatment across all genders/ethnicity/age/cultures and improving accessibility to mental health care for all. We will work together to build courage from your adversity to create your fortitude. We will create smart goals, identify areas of concern, and identify what your path of growth looks like so you know have reached your destination.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in the mental health field since 2014 and have worked in many different positions/roles which allows me to be knowledgeable in what could be other potential resources for my clients. I have done inpatient and outpatient case management, intake for inpatient units, mental health technician on an inpatient unit, counselor at a methadone clinic, counselor at an all women's rehab, readjustment counseling for veterans, and outpatient counseling at a community service board facility.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I help with setting goals and working out how to achieve them. It's about the future rather than the past and promotes positive change and I focus on helping clients to decide on whether they wish to accept or change their concerns.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

by helping one to deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I use this to help individuals with processing traumatic experiences by identifying the thoughts and how they can be stuck points and how to work through the thoughts by identifying emotions and create ways to challenge the thoughts.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use this to assist individuals who have difficulty in regulating their emotions or to teach different forms of mindfulness techniques.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

This is important in all my sessions because everyone comes from a different path and it is crucial to look at cultural upbringing because I feel there is a lack of education on how traditions can affect someones mental wellbeing in the future and cause different traumatic experiences such as emmeshment which is also known as emotional incest.
