Are you feeling alone or at sea in your experience of grief and loss? Are you seeking support and a positive shift in perspective as you encounter big changes in your life -- losing a loved one, starting a new job or career, empty nesting, giving birth, or moving homes? Your journey of grief, loss, or life change is unique -- with its own timeline and emotional terrain. As your therapist, I will support you in navigating both the mix of feelings you may encounter - anxiety, depression, numbness and more - and the altered life rhythms of this new landscape. By offering a safe space for you to explore meaning, moods, identity, and relationships in this time of transition, I will help you to expand your skills in managing unwelcome emotions. By listening with whole heart and open mind, by inviting your reflections, and by offering guidance and support, I commit to your healing and growth in a difficult time. With a professional background as a hospice social worker and as a career changer, I understand the variability and uniqueness of how life changes and loss can manifest inwardly and outwardly. While the work we do together may be challenging and heart-heavy at times, it can also invite moments of humor and profound insight. My expertise is in supporting you in finding your footing on the path you choose. Journeys, whether inward or outward, will be the inspiration for our partnership and work together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first few sessions, I will help you to name and clarify what is most important to you to address in our time together, while committing to understanding the broader context of your lived experience – at home, at work, in the community. At the end of each session, I will summarize and reflect on our dialogue to recognize the steps you are taking and the questions that still give you pause. As our trust and relationship deepens, I will help you explore and confront the challenges that may be limiting your happiness, growth, and outlook and will invite curiosity, authenticity and kindness.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I tailor my treatment approach to each client’s set of needs and disposition, drawing primarily from the following methods: person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and narrative therapy. I bring a strengths-based, culturally sensitive lens to my work and will invite a systems perspective (as opposed to a psychodynamic perspective) for understanding presenting and underlying problems.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I offer individual therapy for adults, using a collaborative, flexible, and tailored approach. My personal style has been described by clients as “calming” and “centering”. I do not favor any one specific treatment method as I prefer to match the client and their need with the best approach for their particular situation. I also believe that silence is powerful and will allow for pause in our sessions, which can at times seem awkward especially in an online format.
