What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session you will answer ten yes or no questions on an ACE questionnaire. (Adverse Childhood Experiences) This is to review any trauma in your life before you were age 18. We also set up goals and a treatment plan. However, some first sessions review your personal story and we may not complete goals in the first session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have had a lifetime of exploring different spiritual traditions and cultures. I have a strong humanistic approach which sees the potential in all people regardless of personal beliefs, labels or perspectives.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

Compassion-based therapy involves enabling individuals to develop self-compassion, compassion to others, and openness to compassion from others, in particular in response to adversity or shame and self criticism.

Somatic

A somatic approach is a body-centric approach that focuses on the relationship between the mind, body, brain, and behavior. Person-centered (Rogerian)

I worked with Natalie Rogers, the daughter of Carl Rogers, for many years, using expressive arts. A person-centered approach is a way of focusing on the needs of the individual, rather than their condition or disability. It involves treating the person as a person first, and ensuring that their preferences, needs, and values guide clinical decisions

Transpersonal

Transpersonal approaches are concerned with accessing and integrating developmental stages beyond the adult ego and with fostering higher human development. Transpersonal approaches emphasize body awareness and sensitivity, and the need to transcend ego needs. Transpersonal psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on studying the spiritual and transcendental aspects of the human experience. It seeks to understand how the connection between the self and higher consciousness can lead to growth and self-development.

Humanistic

Humanistic psychology is a perspective that emphasizes looking at the the whole person, and the uniqueness of each individual. Humanistic psychology begins with the existential assumptions that people have free will and are motivated to acheive their potential and self-actualize.
