Hello! My name is Teretha Lewis and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist in the Chicagoland area. I completed my Master of Social Work Degree with a specialization in Mental Health from Loyola University Chicago. For most of my career I have worked in various settings with the therapeutic community with individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling to manage their daily lives. I specialize in treatment of children/adolescents, adults, and families struggling with Anxiety, Trauma, Depression, Behavioral Issues, Sexualized Behavior Problems and PTSD. In my work my goal is to assist my clients to develop greater insight and effective strategies to manage stressful and distressing situations in their lives. Because no single treatment is suited for all, I tailor sessions with each client's unique style and needs. I believe therapy can be one of the most healing technique for someone to overcome challenges in their lives.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session together I begin by telling the client a little bit about me and my years of experience and find out why you are seeking therapy. Clients can expect to take away from their first session, the mode of treatment I will be utilizing and beginning to understand and develop insight into some of the stressors in their lives. We will find tools that work best with each unique situation. As we find the tools that work best for you, I may gently push you past the discomfort that sometimes arises in therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I believe my biggest strength is my ability to connect with my clients. My counseling style is warm and interactive that provides my clients with a warm, empathetic , non-judgmental safe space to speak about the daily challenges where they can truly be themselves.
