I enjoy creating a non-judgmental and affirming space for adults in their 20s and 30s to work through life with short-term or long-standing mental health and emotional distress. Feelings of anxiety and the need for isolation can be internal cues to request reconnection to what makes our lives meaningful. Ideally, enjoying the moment, knowing how to soothe overwhelming feelings, and engaging our sparkling personalities helps us feel alive. If you want to learn about your mental health needs, understand your patterns, and improve strategies to take better care of yourself, my approach will feel comfortable. I use a gentle and caring approach to provide practical strategies and guiding questions. This helps you explore your pain and find insight and relief from distress. You can expect to explore past experiences, when appropriate, create goals for growth, be offered EMDR strategies to soothe discomfort and shift your mindset to connect with your strengths.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, you can expect to talk about what brings you into therapy, what discomfort you're experiencing how/when it started, and parts of your life story. For follow-up sessions, we will spend time creating and revising goals to meet your individual needs. Clients can expect to be deeply listened to, respected, and supported through processing emotions, thoughts, and patterns. Insight and clarifying questions are focused on personal goals with mental health in mind. Everyone has the potential for growth and change, and therapy can help unlock that potential. I provide a safe and supportive environment where our clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest area of strength with my clients is my gentle and non-judgmental nature. I'm passionate about understanding and Life experiences have encouraged my interest in ADHD, ASD, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Each therapy experience is unique to the client's needs. Some clients are interested in validation and some want more guidance and strategies. In building a strong therapeutic alliance, I work with you to identify emotions and needs that underlie discomfort, avoidance, pain, and conflict. With appropriate cases, EMDR techniques can help to efficiently process trauma and replace negative belief systems with adaptive and resilient views of self and life experiences.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I am first and foremost, centered on my client's goals, interests, needs, and experiences. This drives my appreciation and respect for your autonomy.

Motivational Interviewing

I practice MI through engaging with your desires and past experiences of resilience and coping. Finding your why can help you align with your values and lead a more engaging lifestyle.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

When we act in alignment with our values, we approach our emotions with acceptance. It's okay to experience discomfort and important to learn how to cope with uncomfortable emotions.

EMDR

Sometimes we know things logically but feel in our heart a different experience. EMDR helps provide structure in reframing uncomfortable emotions and experiences to adapt and regain positive perspectives.
