Seeking a new therapist can be overwhelming. You are courageous for showing up and taking the step to seek the healing you desire. I am a licensed clinical social worker. With me, you will find a nonjudgmental space to share your concerns and gentle guidance to navigate your circumstances that led you to seeking therapy at this time. In my former career as a high school teacher, I personally experienced work stress/burn out, identity and self esteem challenges, poor boundaries, anxiety/depression, and other relational challenges. As a parent, I can also relate to the challenges that family life can bring. I became a therapist because I enjoy helping others to live their best life. It would be my great pleasure to walk this journey with you to greater health and recovery!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be focused on information gathering. If you complete intake forms prior to your intake session, that will help us have a more focused and fluid first session. We will go over the reasons why you are seeking therapy at this time, your therapeutic preferences if you have any, your treatment goals, and treatment expectations. You will have the ability to ask any questions concerning your treatment and care. It will also be a time for me to go over important information, such as informed consent, my practice policies, and what to expect in future sessions with me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I enjoy assisting clients in life transitions, career transitions, self-identity and self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, family conflict and parenting concerns, dealing with grief, depression and anxiety, and overcoming difficult habits/patterns of behavior. I am sensitive to the cultural and spiritual needs of minority and Asian American clients.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I offer psychoeducation on mindfulness, guided practice in sessions, modeling, and strategies for application in daily life.

Strength-Based

I utilize your strengths as a foundation to build from, whether you are aware of them or not. I will ask questions to help you explore your strengths and encourage increased insight in a collaborative manner.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

One of my main therapeutic approaches that I utilize frequently in sessions. I provide psychoeducation on the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Then, in a collaborative process, I assist you in changing thought patterns gradually so that you can improve coping capacities.

Family Therapy

In my work with children and family, I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities depending on what is needed, including play therapy, parent child interaction therapy, interpersonal therapy, and family therapy. I can work with mature children independently. I can also provide family therapy where child and parent/caregiver are both present. In our intake session, I will discuss this in detail based on your preferences and my professional recommendations.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

When applicable, I will collaborate with you on solutions to identify relevant and applicable strategies for handling current issues. For some clients, treatment may last a short period of time. For other clients, I may refer to other treatment modalities as is clinically appropriate.
