Take a moment to acknowledge that you are here, taking the first step towards reaching out for support. Let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. My name is Kaylee Hively, I am a licensed independent social worker; I have worked in the behavioral health field for 12+ years. I have worn many different hats over the years; some of the most recent being direct care provider in an office setting, intensive community-based therapist, case management clinical supervisor, and working with insurance agencies to look at current systems and advocate to drive change in the way mental health treatment is delivered within the state of Ohio.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows you to explore barriers related to your unique goals. I focus on helping to develop coping skills that can help improve quality of life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am patient, understanding, and nonjudgmental. I believe that we all have our own unique story and experiences that have led us to where we are today, and it is my job to help you understand and work through those experiences. Therapy fosters personal development, healing and can help develop tools or skills needed to build the life you deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused brief therapy is a short-term therapy which focuses on setting goals and working out how to achieve them. It's about the future rather than the past and promotes positive change by encouraging you to focus on what you can do, rather than what you can't.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps you manage problems by changing the way you think and behave. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are closely linked and influence each other.

Strength-Based

As a strengths-based therapist; I focus on your existing resources, resilience, and positive qualities in an effort to use these abilities to improve quality of life and reduce problematic symptoms.

Psychoeducation

One of the most important steps in healing is gaining an understanding and knowledge of the issues impacting our ability to function each day. Psychoeducation is as important as the therapy itself and I believe that educating the people I see in their diagnosis and the symptoms associated with it, gives them power and autonomy to make informed decisions about their treatment goals, and how best to meet their needs.
