Congratulations on seeking therapy! Most people who seek therapy or counseling report that they experience an improvement in mood and anxiety. I have also found this to be the case after many years of service. I believe I am easy to talk to and approachable. Therapists are very good listeners and will be honest with you, rather than just agreeing with you or dismissing your opinions. If you see me and we establish a plan, you will be in the driver's seat and will determine how much you need and for how long. Since most of what I am doing involves Telehealth, I ask that you cancel ahead of time if you cannot meet per schedule. I will do this as well. As your therapist, I will: Respect your privacy Respect your schedule Respect your opinions and values Respect the severity and urgency of your difficulties Make myself available when you need assistance Help you find answers and solutions rather than excuses and being “stuck"

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know each other and answer any questions about my qualifications or what to expect. In order to become familiar with you and your challenges, I will spend time learning about these challenges from you, as well as other aspects of your life that might play a role in them.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As noted above, methods of treatment are dependent on the individual, their goals, and the issues identified as problematic. That may include cognitive behavioral therapy, for example, but may also involve other methods. These will be explained as applicable. I encourage folks to try interpersonal skills between sessions. If appropriate, we may also practice in sessions. This makes folks anxious, but you cannot do badly, only better.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Areas that I have been successful in treating include Depression, Anxiety, Traumatic Brain Injury, Anger management, and decisions regarding Psychopharmacology. I have substantial experience with more severe mental illnesses. I prefer to provide individual therapy given the use of Telehealth. I also have been married for 33 years, am a Christian, and a father of 4 children and grandfather of 4. I provide training and presentations to other professionals and consumers in a variety of settings.
