What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first session we will review all the initial paperwork, ask the client if they have any questions about informed consent and then share with them that I am a trauma informed therapist and that I want to provide a sense of safety to them while in session. I will then discuss the process of what motivated them to attend therapy. We will discuss goals and what they want their future to look like.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My journey to become a therapist began back in college when I was enrolled to be an apparel marketing major. I was required to take a family studies class as part of my degree for the course. The class discussed family attachment styles and reviewed the profession of helping others. As I continued to learn about attachment and myself, I found that I wanted to help others. I then changed majors to Family Studies Humans Services and later went to get my Family Therapy degree. I am motivated to do this work because I had a mentor help me build my confidence and show me that I am resilient. I love learning about the brain and how trauma impacts every aspect of the body. I have found that helping clients with understanding trauma, emotional regulation and being able to show them that it is possible to live a life of safety and happiness. Some of my greatest's strengths as a provider is meeting the client where they are at. I find that building trust, safety and rapport with my clients is the most important and then moving into finding change that they are looking for. I like to bring awareness to my clients and help them understand the symptoms that are impacting them, and finding ways to manage those symptoms. I am also trained in attachment and relationships and love working with others that want to explore healthy relationships, self-esteem and confidence and how it fits in their world.
