I graduated in 2015 from San Jose State University with a Master's in Social Work, and have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, small clinics, schools, and providing peer support for people experiencing infertility and parents of donor conceived children through the non-profits Resolve and Donor Conceived Community. I opened my private practice in 2024 and provide telehealth in California through Grow Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges or concerns you are facing. I will gather some personal history about your life and may provide brief psychoeducation and skill building so you can leave feeling like you have some tools in your pocket to start managing the stress you are facing. During this first session all the information I gather will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a great listener and calming presence and have heard from my previous clients that they feel seen and heard in session with me. It would seem like this should be an obvious skill of a therapist, but I have worked with a lot clients who have seen and been through some of life's most difficult and traumatic experiences, and creating a safe space as a therapist is very important to me.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use an eclectic approach to therapy with my clients because not all clients benefit from a cookie cutter approach to therapy or a "one size fits all". Each person is different and I like to get to know them, their goals, challenges, strengths, and personal histories so I can attune to what might resonate and help them best, with their collaboration and input. Therefore, I may use CBT, attachment focused interventions, narrative therapy approaches, mindfulness, somatic interventions or psychoeducation, all in a blend or not. Not every intervention works for every person so it's good to stay on the path and keep figuring out what helps and what does not.

Humanistic

I really like to look at the whole individual and not only understand the challenges they face but also the strengths, what motivates them and gets them excited for growth as an individual, how to fulfill their potential and build their confidence and sense of self-efficacy. We, as humans, have so much potential and our life experiences and relationships can impact how and what we feel or perceive about ourselves and others. However, I hold true that we also have great potential for healing and growing a grounded sense and feeling of wholeness. Through my eclectic approach and use of interventions like CBT, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, EMDR, and somatic techniques I like to help clients learn how to tap into their inner strengths and resources to help them gain confidence in their lives, compassion for themselves, and tools to process their life events that shaped who they are today.

Attachment-based

Attachment is a hot word today that most people have heard or learned about. There are books about attachment parenting or how to improve your relationships by understanding your attachment styles and there can be so much confusion about if you grew up with one attachment style or relationship are you stuck for life with this or not? I like to provide a safe space for people to begin to understand themselves and how their primary attachment relationships helped or hindered their sense of safety in the world and relationships. I also like to provide psychoeducation about how interpersonal neurobiology affects how we interpret the world around us from a biopsychosocial perspective. We are lucky that we can reshape our attachment style through adult relationships and begin to understand patterns of relating and interpreting different parts of our lives. It's a bit intellectual, but if you can bear with me and begin to understand what shaped us in our early lives, we can unravel a bit of our present quandaries and create change in our lives.
