Hi there! I’m Alyssa (she/her), and I specialize in working with people of all ages who've experienced trauma or have struggled with mental illness. Having been in therapy since childhood, I understand how tough it can be to open up to a stranger. My approach to therapy is laid-back, aiming to create an inviting space filled with warmth, comfort, and and a sense of good familiarity. I take a psychodynamic, strengths-focused approach when working with clients as I believe we can't better ourselves in the present without revisiting what's impacted our development up to this point. I'm here for clients ready to explore their past to shape a brighter future, particularly those healing from trauma or mental health struggles. My approach is rooted in patience, warmth, and humor, balancing the tough moments with some light-heartedness.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I know first sessions in therapy can be extremely overwhelming and anxiety-provoking, so I do my best to be as welcoming as possible. We'll start slow with brief introductions and give you time to ask any questions you might have. Please never worry about "being all over the place," preparing things to talk about, or needing to dive into what's on your mind and heart before you're comfortable. I want our space to be the one environment you can show up as authentically you, and know that you'll be met with open arms.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Clients in the past have often described me as warm, kind, calming, and someone who they feel they can open up to easily. I pride myself on being a safe space where clients can discuss anything without fear of being judged, abandoned, and unsupported. Throughout my five years in practice, I find that having a strong therapeutic alliance helps to build trust, openness, empowerment, and lasting change within my clients.
