I am an LCSW in the state of CT and LISW in the state of OH. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field working with adults in healthcare settings. For the past 6 years I have been developing my professional counseling skills to meet the needs of my clients. I specialize in person centered approaches rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques which include, mindfulness and strength-based methods. These approaches will allow us to create a safe space to explore your emotions by building a trusting client-therapist partnership and equip you with the tools you need to live healthier and happier lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe that my ability to provide counseling and psychotherapy is a privilege. During your first session, be prepared to discuss and explore the reason you have decided to take this brave step toward change with therapy. The trust between a client and therapist is essential. I strive to create a space where my client feels comfortable and free of judgement regardless of the challenges you may bring forward. Consider me an agent of change for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

It is my mission to help clients to create healthier and happier lives via self-exploration and discovery of personal strengths. By offering my clients compassion and comfort first and foremost, together we can create a space of trust and commitment to growth and change. It is my goal to offer the best therapeutic approach to begin the process of destroying the fears that keep you feeling stuck or stagnated and overcoming depression and anxiety. It is my goal to provide my clients the tools needed to build healthier relationships and to become the change they want to be.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a way of coping with difficult emotions and situations by embracing them, not avoiding them. Utilizing ACT creates a safe space for the client to directly process the fears that are holding them back from growth such as moving on from unhealthy relationships or coping with life changes and challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I frequently utilize CBT and other modifications of this type of therapy. CBT reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow. This type of therapy can help clients cope and more effectively self-manage the symptoms of mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am a certified DBT therapist, and I utilize derivatives of this model to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Motivational Interviewing

My approach is that you "the client" are the pilot, and I "the therapist" and your copilot then eventually a passenger, until our journey is complete. I will help you to discover your path and plot your path, but you are in control. For many people change is difficult this approach is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within a space of acceptance and compassion.”

Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling is a form of psychotherapy that can help you and your partner improve your relationship. It is important that couples are willing to be open and honest and equally committed to do the work to build the relationship that they both desire.
