I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and have twenty-four years of experience working with adults, children, and families. I enjoy helping others who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addictions, trauma, and other difficult transitions and situations. I greatly enjoy my work and the people I serve. My relationship with clients comes first, I work to make sure my clients feel valued, appreciated, and comfortable enough to work on the difficult things we may discuss. It is my hope you will find in me, a therapist who is genuine, sincere, and authentic. While I will offer a few different angles to view from (Choice Theory, REBT, DBT, Mindfulness) you are in control of our shared experience. I will also mention that I tend to keep things Solutions-Focused. A Solutions-Focused approach. Identifying the problem(s) is important. I prefer to build on your strengths and help you to do more of what you truly want to do.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Therapy involves a journey which is an unfolding of your personal progression. In the initial sessions, clients often share a variety of thoughts and ideas that inform their understanding of life the way they see it. As our sessions progress, we collaborate to connect these thoughts, creating coherence and meaning-making in the way that speaks to successful outcomes the way you imagine them. Throughout this process, we delve into defining issues, exploring alternatives, evaluating outcomes, and trying out fresh decisions in a collaborative and integrative format.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The ability to connect and form a trusting relationship with clients has been the most important factor for me. It is important that you feel you have a non-judgmental space to share your experience and receive guidance and expertise as needed. I've found that most clients enjoy feeling they are in control of their sessions and that their clinician is truly invested in their progress and development.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is a large part of my training and professional experience. Sessions involve a process of exploring how thoughts are linked with feelings, emotions, behaviors, and consequences. Clients may expect to uncover irrational thoughts and beliefs that contribute to maladaptive behaviors. Through this process, we can begin to develop more effective thinking, beliefs that are consistent with reality, and acceptance of what is.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy involves a process of mindfulness, tuning in to what is in the here and how. Anxiety thrives on our potential to think about what's not actually happening in the moment but what may or may not happen in the future. Clients who struggle with focus and attention may also benefit from the practice of working to attend fully to the moments as they come.

Gestalt

Gestalt therapists prioritize present moment awareness and the idea that paying attention to the events unfolding in the here-and-now is linked to good health. Gestalt therapists focus on helping their us restore their natural awareness of the present moment by focusing on the here-and-now in the session. Experiences and feelings that have not been fully processed in the past are revisited and worked through in the present. Gestalt therapy helps us become more aware of what is happening to us so that we may own up to acts, impulses, and feelings.
