Hello, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Oklahoma. I graduated with my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern State University and my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Langston University in Oklahoma. I have worked in the Mental Health field for over 20 years. I have worked in various areas of the mental health field such as; work with the Military, Trauma, Sexual abuse/neglect, Rape, Adoption, Foster care, Substance Abuse, Research with individuals (Adult & Children), Couples and group therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like to get to know you. I want to know your strengths and areas that you feel need a bit of growth. I look forward to setting up an individual plan that supports you, using strategies that you feel most comfortable with using.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very focused on getting to truly understand my clients. I want them to feel relaxed and safe as we discuss their life and their goals for their next steps. I feel that my desire to work together as a team to find just the right plan for them is vital. I am very individual focused, I don't believe in a cookie cutter plan for my clients. Each client is an individual and they should be treated as such.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have found that clients are looking for ways to improve their daily moods, ability to function, and to communicate their needs in real situations and in a timely manner. It is a privilege to walk with clients through challenging times in their life and work together to brainstorm ideas as we set goals and steps toward the life they desire.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Psychological problems are based often on our faulty and or unhelpful ways of thinking. Problems are based frequently on learned patterns of unhelpful behavior. I have worked with individuals through the years that have learned better ways of coping with challenges, relieving daily symptoms and they have become more effective in their daily lives. By becoming more aware of cognitive distortions, by gaining a better understanding of others' behaviors, as well as gaining insight into effective coping strategies an individual will begin to gain the confidence that they need to live a more productive happier life. Gain confidence, experience, and resiliency will help an individual to face their fears and reduce anxiety and depression of the unknown.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Using dialectical behavior therapy is focusing on mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and validation. My focus is to help clients to begin to live in the moment, developing healthier ways to cope with stress and regulate our emotions. By learning these strategies, clients have seen improvements in their personal relationships as well as confidence within themselves.
