Hello and welcome! As we all can relate, sometimes the most difficult part of change is the START! My name is Katy, and I am an LGBTQAI+ affirming counselor who enjoys mixing music therapy with evidence-based therapeutic approaches to create a non-judgmental safe space to support you in reaching your goals. I specialize in working with pre-teens/teens (age 12-18), adults, families, and relationships (All relationship styles are safe and welcome! Traditional monogamy, Ethical Non-Monogamy, Polyamory, LGBTQAI+, etc.) I have experience in working with those battling substance use disorders/relapse prevention, teens/adults/families who have had interactions with the legal system or “at risk”, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Life Transitions, Self-Concept, etc. I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology from Troy University (Florida Panhandle Campuses) in 2007 and became licensed in Florida in 2009. I have worked in a Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, Department of Juvenile Justice Residential Treatment Centers, Prisons, Jails, Public Schools, and Community Outpatient Clinics. I am originally from Ohio and graduated in 2002 with Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology from Ohio University in Athens, OH. I lived and practiced in Georgia from 2014-2021 and have recently relocated to the Central Florida area. I’m excited to be back living/working in Florida again and would love to assist and support you in any way I can! Let’s START!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will discuss your goals for therapy and determine if we are a good match to continue working together. We will then discuss some/all of your intake information and go forward with developing a treatment plan.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Drug/Alcohol Counseling/Relapse Prevention, Client-Centered, Solution-Focused, Music Therapy

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive to create a non-judgmental safe space by being authentic, open and relaxed. I also like to incorporate humor! I also enjoy the use of music therapy (if applicable to your treatment goals).
