I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York with over 20 years of experience in various health settings and with a broad range of clients. My goal is to assist you in creating lasting change and improvements in the areas of your life you are coming to me for help with. I am focused on learning your story, listening to what you want, helping you to identify needs, and assisting you in developing the insight and skills that will help you to accomplish your goals. Your success is my success!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and why you are thinking about therapy and for you to learn more about my qualifications and therapeutic approach. Once we have established this understanding, I will suggest a treatment plan to address your needs and discuss next steps.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals from all walks of life and in various settings for over 20 years, I have developed sharp skills in assessment, connection, partnering and troubleshooting. My clients know I am ready to enter the trenches with them and do the hard work necessary to effect change.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) uses mindfulness, acceptance of one's emotions, strategies that limit the impact of negative thoughts, and identification of your personal values as a means of helping to get unstuck and to move toward what really matters in your life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients to identify their automatic negative thoughts and then balance those thoughts with evidence that both supports and negates the thought. Having reality-based thoughts enables us to cope with what is really happening rather than make interpretations that exaggerate or distort reality and cause anxiety and depression.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

While a comprehensive Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) program includes both individual and group therapy, I utilize my knowledge of and experience with DBT to help individual clients improve emotion regulation, manage crises and enhance interpersonal effectiveness as needed. The coping skills I teach through DBT can be truly life-changing and can be applied to nearly any difficult situation one may confront.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness-based therapy to help my clients consciously pay attention to their thoughts and feelings without judging them and to develop self-compassion. By focusing on the present, we can free ourselves from the time travel -- to the feared future or the difficult past -- that can keep us in a never-ending loop of anxiety and/or depression.

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing to help my clients strengthen their personal motivation for and commitment to their goals by identifying their own reasons for wanting change. This is done in an environment of acceptance and compassion.
