ATTN: Kristen will be gone on maternity leave April 29 - June 10th Hi there, my name is Kristen and I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of FL. Do you lack direction in your life? Feel like you have an internal battle of anxiety in your mind? Struggle with feelings of sadness or lack of motivation? Everyone's struggles look a little different, which is why my goal as a therapist is to customize the treatment to fit YOUR specific needs. As a counselor, I act as a guide to help my clients on their journey toward growth and a better future. I encourage my clients to come up with positive coping skills and improve their daily routines as we work together to accomplish their treatment goals. I have several years of experience working with clients who struggle with addiction to alcohol, drugs, and sex. While I specialize in addictions I enjoy helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, codependency, attachment issues, and bipolar disorder. As an intern, I lead group sessions in a treatment facility and also worked with teenagers in a local high school. Once I became licensed I started to focus on building my private practice. I currently work in Maitland FL seeing clients in person and on telehealth platforms.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first session is mostly introductory! I will ask questions about your issues, symptoms, and history. We will create a treatment plan together and goals for future sessions. Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
As a family member of an addict, I have a huge passion for families who struggle with addiction. I have empathy for the addict and their struggles because I know what it can be like to feel out of control and desperately want to change. I also have empathy for the family members because I know how helpless it can feel to watch your loved ones harm themselves and have no clue how to help them. I am a leader of a family and codependency 12-step group in my free time outside of work. This is not just a career for me, it is truly a passion.
