I am a strengths-based, relational therapist that works well with teens, adults and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression and overwhelm due to major life stressors. I provide grounded and practical feedback to support client's in reflective thinking which can aid in behavior and mood changes. I am trauma-informed and understand (and teach) the impact that trauma can have on, not only our mental health, but our physical health as well.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First sessions are used as a get-to-know-you, for all parties involved. During the first session I want you to ask questions, just as I will of you. I will use our time together to learn about your current challenges as well as your history with mental health symptoms. I will want to learn about your family, who is in your support circle, and what "a life worth living," looks like you to.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength as a provider is my empathetic and down-to-earth spirit. I believe that the energy that I bring to session allows my client's to "let their hair down," and truly be themselves. Although I may provide education and practical feedback, I also enjoy laughing and basking in the silliness of it all- with each of my client's. I pride myself on being able to have "hard," conversations with parents and families, however, remaining non judgemental and curious through each interaction.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

If you are feeling out of place at school, work, at home, or in the community and are looking for someone to support you as you begin to understand your own identity- I am your person. If you feel anxious or depressed and avoid talking about your emotions to those closest to you, or feel that you have no one safe to talk to, I want to meet you. I want to help you learn, understand and embrace parts of you that have been cast aside by yourself or others. I want to help you have the tough conversations with your loved ones that you felt were too out of reach to ever try. If you are struggling with self-image, lack of friendships or feel "unseen," you are my person and I want to provide a space for you to begin to thrive.

My treatment methods

Family Therapy

I have worked with families challenged with multiple dynamics. From blended families to recently divorced to families who have experienced high stress and trauma- I have been able to work together with member of the family to create or recreate a foundation based in trust and understanding.

Psychoeducation

One of my passions is to educate client's on the impact of stress, anxiety and depression on the body. I often utilize a portion of session to offer insight into how toxic stress can impact one's biology, as well as how to navigate life once you've experienced it.

Trauma Informed Care

I spent the beginnning of my career working in and around Chicago, with teens and families who were survivors of sexual, racial, domestic and community violence. My experience in Chicago afforded me the opportunity to learn how trauma shows up in the body, and how we as humans can identify and work through trauma-triggers when they show up.

Relational

Forming a positive therapeutic alliance is of the utmost importance to me. Through grounded and practical conversations, it is my goal to form a therapeutic bond with each client, above all else. As a relational therapist, I pride myself in my "down-to-earth," approach to clients, which often makes client's feel respected and safe to share their deepest thoughts and feelings.
