Initially, I attended grad school in public health. While studying at Yale, in the 1970's I took a course entitled, "The Newly Emerging Field of Family Therapy." The professors were amazing and captured my attention. Thirty-one years later, I enrolled in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at Thomas Jefferson University. I am passionate about what I do and have been described as caring and compassionate. I try to listen and connect with each client's specific experience. As a life-long learner, I try to share the latest articles and books to help clients. I've grown from many varied lived experiences and educational opportunities, which positions me in a unique place as a couples and family therapist. I have advanced training in Emotionally-focused therapy, the Gottman Method, and Encountered-Centered Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I review intake info, discuss confidentiality in and out of the sessions, review policy of missed appointments, ask if they have any questions. If they signed up for couples therapy I share with them the process. Initially I see the couple together, then I see each partner individually and then begin the joint sessions. Often I share a brief video that demonstrates from the cradle to the grave we need loving safe connection. It's a video designed by Dr. Sue Johnson. For most clients depending on their presenting problem, I recommend appropriate resources.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is I am exceptionally caring and passionate about my work. As a mature woman, I have a lot of real world lived experience. I have sound academic credentials two graduate degrees from both Yale University and Thomas Jefferson University. In 2009, I received my degree in Couple and Family Therapy Therefore I have the best of both, real life experience and recent education in the latest methods to practice Couple and Family Therapy. This sets me apart from many of my peers who do not have the advantage of recent education.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I particularly enjoy working with couples of all ages and provide them with tools to strengthen and repair their relationships. For eight years, I facilitated bereavement groups for the Jewish Community Services in North Miami Beach. Providing emotional presence to people experiencing loss has been a very meaningful part of my professional career. Additionally I enjoy working with individuals facing life transitions.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Proudly I participated in advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I Particularly I value this method of Couples Therapy because it has the research validating its effectiveness. I use the Emotionally Focused Workbook for Couples and employ several of the materials developed b y Dr. Sue Johnson and her colleagues.

Gottman method

Additionally I use many of the methods for couple therapy that I learned from the Gottman Method. This method also has research validating its effectiveness and integrates well with the EFT model. The couples report benefiting from these methods and seem to enjoy the materials.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Quite often I employ methods from Solution Focused therapy and find those methods effective on the individual issues presented.
