Welcome to your greater! When asked why I have chosen this field, I always respond with, “It chose me”. I was chosen to enter my own healing process and then pursue higher education at Sam Houston State University to professionally qualify my purpose. I obtained my Bachelor's of Science (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees both from the illustrious college. Since that time I have developed my skill set by working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings that include outpatient psychiatric programs/hospitals, Department of Family and Protective Services, and array of private practices.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session of psychotherapy, you can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere conducive to open communication and trust-building. Here's a breakdown of what you expect: Introductions and Establishing Rapport: The session will begin with introductions from both of us. I'll take the time to create a comfortable space, ensuring that you feel heard and understood from the start. Building rapport is essential for fostering a strong therapeutic relationship. Client's Challenges and Goals: You will have the opportunity to share your specific challenges, concerns, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. I will encourage you to express yourself freely and openly, without judgment. Explanation of Therapeutic Approach: I will provide an overview of your therapeutic approach and the therapeutic process. This may include discussing my theoretical orientation, techniques I commonly use, and how I tailor my approach to meet the client's unique needs and goals. It's essential to ensure that you understand what to expect from therapy and how you will work together towards their goals. Gathering Personal History: I will gather more information about your personal history, including relevant background information, past experiences, family dynamics, and any significant life events. This helps me to gain a deeper understanding of your context and provides valuable insights into your current challenges. Addressing Questions and Concerns: Throughout the session, I will invite you to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have about therapy. This creates an open dialogue and allows me to address any uncertainties or misconceptions you may have about the therapeutic process. Overall, the first session sets the tone for the therapeutic relationship and lays the foundation for future sessions. It's a collaborative process where your input and perspective are valued, and you can feel empowered to take an active role in your healing journey. By the end of the session, you should feel heard, understood, and hopeful about the potential for growth and positive change through therapy.
