Tim Shreve received his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas. His passion to help others led him to the field of social work where he received his masters in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Tim has spent nearly 20 years helping children and families in the child welfare system, schools, and in hospitals. Most recently, Tim provided virtual behavioral health services through Children's Medical Center where he also helped families manage the stress of chronic illness. Tim specializes in helping individuals stop the cycle of negative thinking that fuels anxiety and depression. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) he works to bring awareness to common cognitive distortions and discusses skills and strategies to gain better control of thoughts and emotions. Tim also works to normalize the emotional experience for those that have difficulty acknowledging or expressing their emotions. He helps clients see the benefits to acknowledging and addressing emotions rather than avoiding and repressing which often leads to a cascade of unwanted behaviors. In his free time, Tim can usually be found coaching or attending one of his daughters' sporting events. Tim is an outdoor and sports enthusiast and is happiest watching a game on a patio or on a hiking trail in the mountains with family.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, Tim will work with you to establish treatment goals and get a good understanding for what you want to gain out of therapy. Tim provides an easy and conversational setting.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and use a strengths based perspective that emphasizes the things you are doing well while we work to build on your skill set even more.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
