Hi, my name is Kateryna Chorna, and I am a Mental Health Therapist. I specialize in helping adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma to manage their negative emotions so they feel safer, calmer, and more in control of themselves and their lives. I understand how overwhelming and debilitating these conditions can be, and I am here to support, guide, and empower you on your journey towards healing and recovery. I bring to the table proven expertise and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Safe and Sound Protocol(SSP), Bio Dynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System (BBTRS) and I am a Trauma and Resilience Practitioner (CTRP). These credentials enable me to equip you with the tools necessary to manage anxiety, depression, and PTSD in a sustainable and healthy manner. You don't have to struggle alone or let negative emotions define your life. Together, we can work towards a brighter future where you feel safer, calmer, and more in control of yourself and your life. Don't let negative emotions hold you back any longer.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial meeting, you'll be welcomed into a supportive and safe space where your voice is heard and valued. We'll take the time to understand your unique experiences and challenges, setting the stage for our work together. I'll introduce you to effective therapeutic strategies such as DBT, EMDR, SSP, and BBTRS, explaining how these can be tailored to your specific needs. Together, we'll outline a personalized plan aimed at managing anxiety, depression, or trauma, and begin your journey toward healing, empowerment, and a more fulfilling life. This first step is about building trust and setting a foundation for transformative growth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider stem from a unique blend of professional training, extensive experience, and a multicultural background. Holding a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, being a certified and licensed mental health therapist alongside being an accomplished tennis coach has equipped me with a unique skill set. This combination allows me to approach mental health with a holistic, comprehensive understanding of human behavior and resilience. The diversity of my experiences—working with children, adolescents, and adults across various cultures—has honed my ability to connect with people on a deep level, regardless of their background. My dual role as a therapist and coach has cultivated a distinctive approach to therapy, where I employ evidence-based practices alongside coaching techniques to motivate, inspire, and facilitate lasting change in my clients. Moreover, my journey from training in the Czech Republic, studying in London, and living in different parts of the United States, including attending a Historically Black University, has enriched my cultural competence. Being fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, and having traveled to over 25 countries, I bring a profound multicultural perspective to my practice. This global exposure has made me exceptionally adept at understanding and navigating the complexities of cultural identity and its impact on mental health. My over 7 years of experience in the mental health field, combined with continuous professional development, ensure that I stay at the forefront of therapeutic innovations. My commitment to understanding the nuances of various cultural backgrounds, alongside my ability to communicate in multiple languages, positions me uniquely to provide empathetic, culturally sensitive care. What truly sets me apart is my genuine passion for empowering individuals to overcome their challenges. My journey has taught me the importance of resilience, empathy, and the transformative power of therapy. As a provider, I am dedicated to creating a supportive, understanding environment where every client feels seen, heard, and valued on their path to healing and growth.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice by teaching clients mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to manage intense emotions and improve relationships.

EMDR

I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences by guiding them to reprocess traumatic memories through bilateral stimulation, fostering adaptive resolution and emotional healing.

Polyvagal Therapy

I apply the Polyvagal Theory in my practice by focusing on the connection between clients' physiological states and their emotional experiences, using techniques that promote safety and trust to help regulate their nervous systems and build resilience against stress.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) techniques to empower clients by focusing on their existing strengths and resources, and collaboratively identifying and working towards achieving specific, attainable goals, fostering quick and effective change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs, teaching them cognitive restructuring and behavioral techniques to alter unwanted behaviors and emotions, thus improving their mental health and well-being.
