As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Professional Educator, I am passionate about working with individuals in K-12, their families, and young adults to foster culturally sensitive and socially acceptable coping skills, self-management skills, positive cognitions, social awareness, communication skills, interpersonal skills, self-perception, increase assertive ability, and decision-making skills. Using Psychotherapy, cognitive and behavioral models, and varying approaches, I partner with individuals and their families to develop these skills using single and multi-treatment modes. Currently accepting NEW CLIENTS. My experience includes 6 years of clinical school social work, 6 years of instruction and mentorship as a college professor, and 6+ years of private practice. Using a strengths-based approach, I aim to empower clients to find solutions to their problems and to assist them in developing the skills necessary to maintain emotional stability.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we will start with brief introductions. We will then review the intake documents that you should have completed. Are utilize simple practice and you will be contacted and that would have been sent to you prior to our session. An initial diagnostic intake will be conducted at which time you will share insight as to what is brought you into therapy and we will begin discussing goals that you have for your time and therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work with clients of all ages with a specialty in children, teens, adolescents, families, and couples.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

While there is no one size that fits all, this mode of therapy is extremely helpful to improve symptoms that are associated with many mental health diagnosis. CBT utilizes homework which helps clients apply concepts that they learn in therapy on their own. This encourages personal accountability and typically prompts improvement of symptoms.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a person of color and a former professor of cultural competence I am always mindful of the impact of culture and diversity on ones quality of life.

Compassion Focused

It is important to always treat clients with dignity and respect while meeting them where they are and addressing the issue that brought them to therapy. This approach is helpful to doing so.
