Hi, I'm Jonni Allen, from Houston, Texas, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and an Advanced Mediator. I received my masters degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and my law degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. I started Pink Rose Therapy to help women reach their full potential. Through empowerment, support, and emotional development I have seen women achieve greater success in their career, higher reports of satisfaction and enjoyment from their interpersonal relationships and a genuine calm and peacefulness when enjoying their down time, allowing more time to spend on hobbies, side hustles, or causes with greater vigor and passion. I approach individual therapy as a partnership, where you and I both work on your treatment plan goals and checking in with how effective our work together is going. Each person is unique and has specific needs. Typically, I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to challenge your current assumptions about your situation. I specialize in people experiencing anxiety, adjustment concerns around life transitions, and personality disorders. I am trauma informed and can help you realize how past traumas are impacting your mental health today, and strategies to cope better and calm the mind and body. I am a single mom to three children one adult, and two elementary age.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In individual therapy, I really let you guide what it is you would like to work on, it is your time. I may ask a few questions about your intake paperwork, but feel like deeper questions will come about naturally through our work together. My belief is that you are in charge of your own life, I am a helper, and you can say what you would like help with each time. With group work, I will have a set idea of topics to discuss if there is not a pressing concern to discuss after check in.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My age and experiences in life, I can usually relate to similar situations that people share with me. Also, my ability to stay calm and present with people as they share some of the most painful and often horrific parts of the human experience.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have found CBT can help change a person's perspective about events and people in their lives from anger and resentment to understanding and forgiveness allowing a release of negativity and a new outlook or positive emotions and great uplift of mood.

Feminist

When a woman feels empowered in her life her decisions are different, and come from a place of free choice and not of feeling like it's the best she can do.

Group Therapy

I love leading groups and seeing the power of community and support become part of the healing process and human experience.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness has been proven to be so powerful to help control our current thoughts and not escape into our emotions or worry about the future (anxiety) or ruminate about the past (depression), and therefore really feel our lives in the present.

Psychoeducation

Through education about diagnoses clients can build an awareness that empowers them to understand their or their partner's full being and communicate some of their ways / struggles interacting with the world and people around them.
