Welcome! I'm Alisha Do you find yourself attempting to dismiss negative thoughts or memories? Possibly avoiding situations, scenarios, and places that remind you of something not so great? Do these memories invoke some kind of negative belief about yourself that you know is not true? Do you desire to decrease the intensity of these memories, thoughts or experiences so they are no longer as intrusive and demanding of your attention? I empower those who are ready to address some of the things from the past or the present that may be presenting a mental and emotional weight on functioning, relationships, and overall well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Everything we do in session will be presented in a collaborative way to create an empowering environment for you. I take a strengths-based approach during sessions so we can achieve sustainable change. Reaching your goals will always be something we visit throughout some of our sessions; discussing what is working and challenging you in what may need to change to have a better outcome.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we can work to address and resolve many difficulties that may interfere with the life you envision for yourself reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, addictions, low self-esteem/self-confidence, and perinatal mental health for both parents. If EMDR is not a good fit, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy where we can address some faulty thinking that may be occurring, and/or focus on expressing emotion positively and healthily.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Unfortunately, there can be many different occurrences that can happen in life that may cause us trauma. We can spend days, months, and years trying to suppress or "stuff" those unpleasant memories, times, and thoughts. We can try to put them in a box and on a back shelf of our brains... but the body remembers. The good news is, that our trauma can be worked through. It can be processed with the right tools which helps us reduce the intensity of these negative and traumatic thoughts and memories. In addition to being trained in trauma counseling, I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health providing support to those with preconception, pregnancy, perinatal loss, infertility, and post-partum mental health complications for both parents. Motherhood can be one of the most isolating, demanding and challenging periods and it is an honor to come alongside my clients to provide additional support and skills.
