Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have been practicing for 15 years. In the past 7 years, I have engaged in doing short-term, goal-oriented therapy with adults. I have always thought that individuals (especially adults that seek out therapy willfully) have in them the potentials to rethink their situation and work towards resolving their concerns when provided the appropriate tools allowing them to clearly see and identify what their objective is at that time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, collaboratively develop treatment plan, identifying what goals you want to address in subsequent sessions. A clear understanding of what your treatment objectives are provides informed purpose to addressing your concerns in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having had the privilege and trainings over the years working with clients who have experienced some shift in their normal functioning due to stress of life situations or circumstances that have impacted their mental health, I have developed the ability to be available and meet the client where they are in their life. As a provider, being present and able to mirror back the situation helps the client see clearly what and how to address their situation, is what I consider my greatest strength.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

One of my clinical specialties is Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I personally do not focus on pathologizing my clients, so I focus on emphasizing the client’s strengths and resources to create positive change. Being a proponent of brief therapy, I focus on the present “what brings you here” and work towards resolving the concern and future goals rather than past problems. I like to emphasize solutions rather than investigating underlying issues. I try to explore the client’s strengths rather than weaknesses, the client’s skills, resources, and coping abilities that would help reach the future goals.

Motivational Interviewing

I focus on emphasizing the client’s strengths and resources to create positive change. Being a proponent of brief therapy, I focus on the present “what brings you here” and work towards resolving the concern and future goals rather than past problems. I try to encourage clients to talk themselves into making beneficial changes in their lives by mirroring and emphasizing empathy, openness, and acceptance. Using motivation interviewing, my aim is to work with clients to empower themselves to discover their own motivations for positive change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In addition to my experience with other treatment methods, the use of CBT has in my practice has helped many of my clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. A healthy developed therapeutic alliance provides a unique opportunity in session for the use CBT to recognize how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. collaboratively the client and I will then use that knowledge to change the client's thinking patterns, and in turn help the client lead a less anxious and stressed life.
