Welcome to my practice. I provide counseling for ADD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and Post Traumatic Stress. I enjoy helping children, families and adults rebuild, mend and maintain the bridges broken by mental health challenges. As a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey, originally from New York, my brief intensive therapy immediately improves a sense of cohesiveness and decreases feelings of estrangement. A bulk of my experience arose from the families I served referred by state and local child care agencies. My years of experience and exposure to diverse populations has enable me to be knowledgeable on many topics and resources.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we'll do introductions, explain/answer any questions and an "icebreaker". Ice breakers can make a tense situation less intense. We need to review and complete the therapy forms and assessments. I can help with filling them out. Lets get right into the heart of your situation, I find a direct approach sometimes makes people feel immediately engaged. I also enjoy making people feel comfortable, making sure to incorporate some fun or humor through thought provoking games, when/if appropriate, which makes talking easy. We'll talk about expectations and homework for the next session as well as date/time of next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a good listener. I have enjoyed listening to people tell their life stories all my life . I see myself as being a behind the scenes role player or a side bar in the story of their life journey. I feel that every person who dares to step out of their comfort zone, in order to improve their life and/or the lives of others, whatever the motivation, deserves to be heard and helped.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

For the past twelve years I have utilized semi brief structured psychotherapy to focus on changing self-reported maladaptive thoughts and behaviors which lead to negative outcomes. I guide individuals through identifying desired changes. Being sensitive and realistic to those thinking patterns, I empower change by supporting adaptive beneficial behaviors. Goals are identified as but not limited to emotional regulation, cease distorted thoughts, adaptation of beneficial behaviors, mindfulness/meditation, connecting thoughts with feelings and the acceptance of negativity.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Modifying my twelve years of experience and skills in CBT by teaching in the moment strategies for developing successful tools to manage crisis/stress, regulate emotions and improve relationships. I teach mindfulness skills to enhance thoughts, feelings, sensations, and impulses, in a totally non-judgmental environment. I improve your ability to accept yourself in your current situation, address self-destructive behaviors and create a path to become your own best friend, experience greater happiness, stronger relationships, and positive life goals.
