Hello, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I work in private practice. This is my dream career and I believe that being allowed into someone's private thoughts and the workings of their life is a sacred place. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is dotted with questions about: Culture, world view, personal habits, strengths and vulnerabilities, substance use, sleep, eating and activity habits, any concerns you have, your likes and dislikes and your counseling expectations. Confidentiality and exceptions will be discussed. Feel free to question me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As therapist I an in 100%. I am open to listening. I have two ears and one mouth so I try to listen twice as much as I talk. I believe this life is the client's journey and they have to plot their own course. Even children can be empowered to make positive decisions.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Many times preparation before requests decreases outbursts. I have raised 4 children and have 17 grandchildren. I have found behavioral methods to be valuable in increasing desired behaviors and decreasing undesired behaviors. Teaching your child to negotiate with you early can lay a foundation of communication and cooperation when they become teens.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Each family has a code of conduct and overt and covert rules. Understanding common occurrences with in birthorder can provide acceptance of one another's differences. When personality differences are viewed as skills that can be accessed by other family members all family members can be viewed as valuable.
