Are you experiencing difficulty moving forward with life after trauma, loss or unanticipated setbacks in life? Do anxiety and worry prevent you from fully engaging and living the life you want to live? Hello my name is Kristin and I enjoy helping survivors of trauma and loss and those struggling with anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders heal from past experiences and develop confidence and courage to navigate life's challenges. Although the process looks different for everyone, I strive to help clients understand and empower themselves through identifying and building upon personal strengths, connecting to values, understanding connections between past experiences and current challenges and providing skills and support to process difficult emotions and confront triggers and fears as they emerge in everyday life. I treat individuals of all ages with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. However, I especially enjoy working with children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety and worry as well as those who experienced the loss of a loved one or pet. I believe that therapy is an adventure that should be playful, engaging and directly relatable. I welcome humor and sarcasm and particularly love incorporating client's personal interests and popular culture into sessions. I often bring my two adorable chihuahuas, Dusty and Attila, into virtual sessions when desired and feasible. I believe that the telehealth platform provides an incredible opportunity to connect and work together in a relaxed setting. I work best with clients who desire and embrace this non-traditional modality and strive to ask questions, challenge assumptions and apply insights gleaned or skills taught in therapy to situations

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe that laying the foundation for successful therapy is essential during the first session or two. Together, we will construct a vision of what successful treatment looks and feels like and we will build a treatment plan from there. During the early parts of therapy, we will explore aspects of your history and current thought processes and patterns to identify and address the underlying cause of current difficulties through direct application of skills either within or outside of session. The most valuable outcome of therapy is the confidence that is gained from overcoming mental and emotional obstacles.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I primarily utilize interventions from CBT, DBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and solution-focused therapy. I have experience with Trauma-Focused CBT and Sanctuary Model to address trauma symptoms.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my biggest strengths is my desire and commitment to delivering effective and meaningful therapy. To make this happen, I spent a significant amount of time equipping clients with information about their symptoms and teaching them how to get the most out of their therapy experience.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Children, adolescents, young adults usually with some element of grief, trauma or anxiety. I view myself as a coach or guide, so I work best with clients who are motivated to apply concepts outside of sessions.
