I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a Specialization in Dance Movement Therapy, and also hold a certification in Laughter Yoga. I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach and theory, as well as draw from the Expressive Arts Therapies, mindfulness and somatic based practices. I have been told I am an open, grounded and empathetic listener, who helps others feel safe and comfortable, but also, when appropriate, has a good sense of humor. No matter what your unique story or circumstance, let’s work together to write your next life chapter. To live a healthy and balanced life, inside and out, with more joy, self-awareness, self- love, possibilities, and inner peace. I look forward to meeting you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Hello there. First of all congratulations for putting yourself first and pursuing an opportunity take control and ownership over your mental health. This is your therapy, so we are going to take some time to get to know each other. Because this is your therapy I am here to partner with you, not to dictate, judge or tell you what to do. My job is to help build trust and safety as we develop a therapeutic relationship. You will guide where the session will go and we can take things gently and one step at a time. This is a no judgement zone, and I am here to listen, support and guide you when you feel you need it.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel I am empathetic, a good listener, allow for space in the therapeutic relationship, enthusiastic, grounded and have a good sense of humor when appropriate. I have been told that I have a way of making people feel seen, heard and safe. I like to encourage and inspire others to stretch out of their comfort zones, but meet them where they are and am sensitive about when to gently nudge and when to allow space for processing and for them to move at their own pace. I believe in people and possibilities and am very passionate and supportive when it comes to someone who has a dream.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach to building the therapeutic relationship is by letting you know that we are taking this journey together, and creating a safe non-judgemental space, where you can feel valued, seen and heard. This is your therapy, an important piece of your wellness, and just a piece of the total puzzle that makes up the whole beautiful you. My role is to work together with you to navigate your life path, help you to identify your goals for treatment, and support you while you nurture and develop the skills to feel empowered as you encounter and manage the stories and emotions that emerge as you journey inward.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Deciding to enter into a therapeutic relationship can feel anxiety provoking at the very least. Asking for help, or deciding to open up and allow yourself to feel vulnerable can almost feel too “real”. Continuing to live in the uncomfortable coping mechanisms or life patterns that you’ve become accustomed to, can feel so much easier to continue with than challenging yourself to disrupt them, and feel the discomfort of creating a change to a more productive inner life.

Somatic

I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach and theory, as well as draw from the Expressive Arts Therapies, mindfulness and somatic based practices. I believe it is important to talk and share, but also feel it is equally important to attend to and listen to our bodies as well to connect and gain awareness of the mind body connection. In addition to accessing the creative process, we will integrate breathwork, to further connect you to your inner peace and serenity, while creating a body memory that will work automatically when you feel anxious or stressed.

Gestalt

In addition to connecting mind and body, we will work on focusing on the present moment, and develop skills to assist in grounding yourself as you look to set goals for your future. As you continue to develop more self-awareness in the present moment, the hope is you will be able to leave your past stories, and move forward from where you are in the now.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I am going to meet you where you are at and we will gently, at your pace, process through your experiences and emotions, while developing various and individual coping skills to manage any trauma when activated. I prefer to use the word activated, as I feel the word "triggered" has too much of a negative charge to it. The hope is for you will develop self-compassion and begin to practice more self-love and self-care, while challenging self-destructive thought patterns that continue to negatively impact your life, so that you can have more empathy for yourself and your story and move forward to a functional and more joyful life.
