Hi, I'm Amy! I've been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts for over ten years. Most recently I've worked as a clinician at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to that, I worked at the MA Department of Mental Health for five years. I specialize in mental health and substance and alcohol use disorders.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
You can expect a therapeutic alliance working with me. My intention is to create an environment built on unconditional positive regard. Whatever you want to work on is what we will work on together-your treatment goals are your own and you define your progress!
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I mainly use Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice but consider myself eclectic in my framework. Other modalities I incorporate are Trauma Focused, Strength-Based, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), and Mindfulness-Based (MBCT).
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Having extensive experience in both mental illness and substance use disorders, my specialty is co-occurring disorders, also referred to as dual-diagnosis.
