We will start our first session with brief introductions and begin talking about what is bringing you to therapy; this will help us understand your current concerns and goals. You and I will discuss your goals for therapy; this will be an opportunity to clarify your expectations for therapy. A good rapport is essential for a therapeutic alliance; we will work to establish rapport to create a comfortable and safe space for you to express yourself. Overall, the first session is an opportunity for you and me to get to know each other, establish a foundation for the therapeutic relationship, and collaboratively plan the course of your therapy.
