Hi! Im a Licensed Professional Counselor in Louisiana, South Carolina and Arizona. I received my PhD from the University of New Orleans and have been practicing for 15 years. My approach to counseling encourages clients to confront life's inherent uncertainties and challenges, and to find personal significance and purpose. This therapeutic approach helps individuals understand themselves and their place in the world, fostering a sense of empowerment to make authentic and meaningful choices. I work with clients to encourage psychological flexibility, it empowers individuals to live more fully in the present moment and to pursue a life consistent with their core beliefs and goals, despite the presence of difficult emotions or experiences.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In a first session with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can openly discuss their concerns and goals. We will begin by exploring their current challenges and life circumstances, as well as their values and aspirations. I will explain my therapeutic approach and how it encourages confronting uncertainties and finding personal significance. Together, we will establish a foundation for our work, focusing on fostering self-understanding, psychological flexibility, and empowerment to make authentic, meaningful choices.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, my strengths lie in my ability to create a compassionate and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions. With 15 years of experience, I bring a deep understanding of various therapeutic approaches, particularly existential therapy, which helps clients find personal meaning and purpose. My strong commitment to fostering psychological flexibility empowers clients to navigate life's challenges and pursue their goals despite difficult emotions. Additionally, my licensure in multiple states and a PhD in counseling underscore my dedication and expertise in the field.

My treatment methods

Existential

As an existential therapist I encourage clients to confront life's inherent uncertainties and challenges, and to find personal significance and purpose. My aim is to help individuals understand themselves and their place in the world, fostering a sense of empowerment to make authentic and meaningful choices. I incorporate other modalities such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and attachment styles to build on existential concepts and create a unique therapeutic plan for each client .

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to encourage individuals to accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty about them. ACT helps clients to commit to making meaningful changes aligned with their values. By fostering psychological flexibility, it empowers individuals to live more fully in the present moment and to pursue a life consistent with their core beliefs and goals, despite the presence of difficult emotions or experiences.

Couples Counseling

As an existential therapist with 15 years of experience in couples counseling, I focus on helping partners explore the deeper meanings and values underlying their relationship. My approach involves addressing existential themes such as authenticity, freedom, and responsibility within the context of their partnership. By encouraging open and honest dialogue, I assist couples in confronting and resolving existential concerns, fostering a deeper connection and mutual understanding. This process helps partners navigate their individual and shared life challenges, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and meaningful relationship.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Through EFT, clients can identify and change maladaptive emotional responses, leading to more adaptive emotional experiences and improved interpersonal relationships. This approach is particularly effective in fostering emotional connection and resolving emotional conflicts within couples and families.
